The first metro line opened in may 1935 and went from the Sokolniki station to Park Kultury with a branch to Smolensky. The original metro comprised 11.2 km track, 13 stations and 12 trains. With the discovery in 1935 appeared and the logo is a capital M in conjunction with the words “METRO“.
Since 1955, the metro is a name of V. I. Lenin. The current Moscow metro consists of 12 lines with a total length 333,5 km with more than 200 stations,44 of which are recognized as objects of cultural heritage of UNESCO.
